Bayern Munich defender David Alaba has told BILD that he was a fan of Arsenal when he was growing up.
The Gunners will face Bayern for the third time in four seasons in the Champions League in February and the Austrian international says he enjoys playing at the Emirates.
The 24-year-old has been a target of Arsenal in the past and his admission indicates that the club do have a chance of signing the player if he becomes available in the future. Alaba said:
‘For me, games against Arsenal are always beautiful. Because in my childhood Arsenal were my favourite team! Playing in London is also fantastic – almost as good as here in the Allianz Arena.’
At the start of this month, the Manchester Evening News reported that Manchester United have given up their pursuit of Alaba because of the player’s admiration for Arsenal.
It seems then that if ever the defender comes to play in England, his most likely destination would be the Gunners, although at this stage with the player’s current contract expiring in 2021, that is unlikely to happen anytime soon.
