Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has said the gap between teams at the top of the table this season suggests that the difference in terms of quality between the teams has shrunk this season.

Talking at his pre-match press conference for the match against Everton tomorrow night, Wenger said he believes the congested fixture list during the festive period could prove to be a determining factor in this season’s Premier League:

“When you look at the teams around us, you can see that the margin of difference between the teams has shrunk a lot. So the way you respond in every single game is absolutely vital. It’s a very important period where everyone has to be absolutely focused on our results and on the way we want to play.”

Wenger’s side will head into the match at Goodison Park without centre back Shkodran Mustafi and midfielder Aaron Ramsey. Wenger confirmed that the Welsh international is not fit enough to feature for the Gunners in tomorrow night’s game.

Mustafi meanwhile was substituted in the first half in the 3-1 win against Stoke City on Saturday and will miss three weeks according to Wenger with a hamstring injury. Defenders Gabriel or Rob Holding are expected to replace the German international in the side for the match.
