Allofs to consider bids for £30m star amid Gunners interest

|

Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs has said the club is willing to consider bids for their attacking midfielder Julian Draxler. The German international has been linked with both Arsenal and Juventus in recent weeks.

Italian website Tuttomercatoweb are reporting that the Gunners are lining up a £30millon bid for the 23-year-old and Allofs told Sky Deutschland (translated by ESPN FC) that although the player is not technically up for sale, they are open to offers from other clubs in January after refusing to allow the midfielder to leave in the summer. He said the decision not to allow him to leave was a mistake:

‘That has proven not to have been a good decision, you’ve got to accept that now. If we are to receive an offer then we will consider it and see whether we react to it. We are not putting him up for sale or sticking a price tag on him, though, just to make that very clear.’

Draxler has failed to perform this season, and he is yet to score or provide an assist after 12 matches in all competitions. He was not in the squad for Wolfsburg this weekend as the Bundesliga side were thrashed 5-0 by Bayern Munich. He was booed after coming on as a substitute in his last outing against Hertha Berlin.
