Arsenal are monitoring Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak but are baulking at the La Liga club’s £85 million valuation.
The 23-year-old has quickly established himself as one of the finest shot-stoppers in Europe and is supposedly being watched by a host of elite clubs, including Arsenal.
The Sun, as reported by Goal, claim Arsene Wenger is an admirer of the Slovenia international and has approached Atletico on a number of occasions over his availability, with Diego Simeone unwilling to listen to any offers.
Despite the knockbacks, Arsenal retain an interest in Oblak, but any potential bid from the Gunners would be substantially less than the £85 million release clause in his contract.
It’s believed Oblak will consider his options available to him at the end of the season but is highly likely to stay put at the Vicente Calderon.
The Slovenian goalkeeper is the only Atleti player to have started all 13 La Liga matches this season and his reputation of being one of the best in his position continues to grow.
