Arsenal close to sealing major deal

|

Arsenal are edging closer to agreeing a contract extension for Hector Bellerin after his agent held positive talks in last week with the club’s officials.

The 21-year-old right-back has become a regular for Arsene Wenger’s side for the past three season and has been in fine form thus far this campaign.

Bellerin still has almost three-years left to run on his existing contract at the Emirates but has still attracted interest from Manchester City and boyhood club Barcelona.

Wenger admitted last month that it is a priority of his to offer Bellerin an extension on his current deal and it is thought that talks have been progressing well, despite not yet coming to an agreement.

But the Spaniard’s agent, Albert Botines, was in London last week to hold talks with Arsenal representatives and expects his client to commit to a new deal.

Quoted in The Guardian, Botines said:

‘We are speaking and are now a lot closer than we were two weeks ago. In a normal situation he will sign.

‘Hector is very happy at Arsenal. This would be the fourth time he has signed a new contract at the club and it is clear he has made good progress.’

Despite interest from Barcelona and City, the speedy full-back also revealed he is happy and focused at Arsenal.

It’s only a matter of time before Bellerin agrees to put pen to paper on an extension, and that’s great news for the Arsenal fans.
