The Belfast Telegraph are reporting that Arsenal may soon be set to offer a contract extension to 21-year-old right back Hector Bellerin.
The Spaniard has been a mainstay for the club this season on the right side of defence and the report believes any new deal would help prevent the interest of Manchester City and Bellerin’s former club Barcelona.
The right-back came through the ranks with the Catalan club before moving to the Gunners in 2011 and has since become a first team regular.
He made his full international debut for Spain in a friendly against Bosnia Herzegovina in May of this year and has helped the Gunners to third in the Premier League table this season.
He still has three years left to run on his current deal but the feeling is at the club, according to the report, that a new deal, adding years to his stay, would help ward off any potential suitors.
He is expected to start against Swansea this weekend.
