Arsenal have loaned young midfielder Glen Kamara out to Colchester United on transfer deadline day, the London club have confirmed on their official website.

The 20-year-old has been on the Emirates Stadium side’s books since joining from Southend United in 2012 but has not made a Premier League appearance as yet for the Gunners.

He retuned to his former club earlier this year for a brief loan stint, which allowed him to make a handful of appearances in senior football.

The move to Colchester makes sense as Kamara is likely to feature prominently for the League Two club.

A Finland under-19 and 21’s international, the Arsenal midfielder is believed to be highly rated by Arsene Wenger but is obviously some way off the Gunners first team at the moment.

Had Kamara stayed at the North London club he may well have featured in the odd cup competition game, but a switch to Colchester will give him more opportunities to play regularly.
