Arsenal were offered Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge on loan by the player’s representatives on transfer deadline day, Goal report.

The Reds forward is not guaranteed a starting role in Jurgen Klopp’s side and has been vocal in his desire to play in a central role rather than on the flanks.

Liverpool have opted to play Roberto Firmino as the furthest man forward so far this season, while Belgian ace Divock Origi is also in contention for a place in the Anfield outfit’s XI.

The report suggests that Sturridge’s agent tried to fashion a deal taking the England international to the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday, which was unsuccessful.

No Arsenal approach is believed to have come in for the former Manchester City and Chelsea attacker, while Liverpool did not want to let him go anyway.

The Gunners have added Lucas Perez from Deportivo La Coruna to bolster their options in the final third.
