Arsenal have sold young attacker Serge Gnabry to Werder Bremen on transfer deadline day, as reported on the club’s official website.

The German winger has been on the books for a number of years but despite a host of cameo appearances he failed to establish himself in Arsene Wenger’s first-team thoughts.

An unsuccessful loan stint at West Brom has stalled Gnabry’s career, while the attacker has also suffered from debilitating injuries over the years.

The 21-year-old put himself in the shop window over the summer by featuring for Germany at the Olympic Games and was part of the team that was agonisingly beaten on penalties in the competition final by hosts Brazil.

Moving to Bremen will give Gnabry the chance to play regularly, which will be key in the winger meeting his considerable potential.

The Stuttgart-born starlet leaves the Emirates Stadium having made 10 Premier League appearances for the Gunners and scored one goal in the process.
