Reported Arsenal target Mauro Icardi has put an end to the summer-long transfer saga linking him with a switch to the Emirates Stadium by sighing a new contract at Inter Milan.
The Gunners faithful have implored Arsene Wenger to splurge cash on a new recognised number nine of note, with current incumbent Olivier Giroud not entirely convincing the North London supporters.
A host of names have been linked with potentially filling the void, with Icardi one of those most commonly mentioned.

The Argentine attacker has starred for the Nerazzurri in recent seasons and is the Milanese-based club’s captain and main offensive weapon.
However, despite speculation stating that Arsenal were ready to break the bank to land Icardi, the hotshot centre forward has agreed a new three year deal with the Serie A side.
The former Barcelona youth academy player is believed to have a massive release clause in his deal that will dissuade interest from overseas.
