New Inter Milan manager Frank De Boer has poured cold water on claims that Arsenal target Mauro Icardi is set to leave the club this summer.

The Gunners have repeatedly been linked with the Argentine attacker over recent months, with reports in some corners that the striker’s agent was set to fly to London to discuss the terms of a potential transfer.

Icardi has impressed at the Milanese club over two seasons and was a rare bright spark for the Nerazzurri in an otherwise forgettable campaign in 2015-16.

Inter are reluctant to let their club captain leave this summer and De Boer, who replaced Robert Mancini at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza this week, has stated that Icardi is going nowhere.

“We will keep the players who we do not want to sell,” the Dutchman told Goal.

“Icardi will remain. Mauro is young, can still learn and we will work very well together.”

Arsenal will seemingly have to look elsewhere for attacking reinforcements in what has been another transfer window where plenty of strikers have been linked to the club but nothing has eventuated.
