Arsenal striking target Alexandre Lacazette may well stay at boyhood club Lyon, with Goal reporting that the French club are set to offer him a new bumper contract to remain in his homeland.

The Gunners are in the market for a striker to complement existing option Olivier Giroud and had an offer for the France international rejected by the Ligue 1 club earlier this summer.

Lacazette has propelled himself into the collective conscious with some stunning displays in France and has scored consistently for Lyon over the last couple of seasons.

Arsenal are running out of time in their efforts to sign the versatile forward and it is believed that the French club are making a major move to block their prize asset’s departure.

The title-chasing side are believed to be ready to make Lacazette their highest-ever earner if he is willing to turn his back on interest from abroad and commit to his boyhood club.
