Arsenal are keeping a close eye on German youngster Lukas Klostermann and could well make a move for the 20-year-old defender this summer, according to Bild.

The Red Bull Leipzig enforcer is currently featuring for his country in the Olympic Games in Brazil and has been a standout for the World champions.

Klostermann moved to the second-tier side from Bchum back in 2014 and has received the opportunity to play relatively regular first-team football as a result.

Arsene Wenger is believed to be monitoring the progress of the young defender at the Olympics and is said to have been impressed with the starlet’s performances.

Arsenal are in dire need of a new central defender, with long-term injuries to both Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista leaving the Gunners down to their bare bones with the new season less than a week away.
