Reported Arsenal target Riyad Mahrez has penned a new four-year contract to stay with Leicester City and end speculation over a potential move to the Emirates Stadium, The Guardian report.

The Algeria international was a revelation last season in the Foxes’ mesmeric march to the Premier League title and picked up the PFA Player of the Year accolade in the process.

Given Mahrez’s unbelievable skill and trickery, a host of major European clubs have been linked with a move for him this summer.

Arsenal have been the side most-commonly mentioned as a major suitor, with the North London side already falling short in a bid to tempt Jamie Vardy to join the club.

However, with speculation rife but no action from Arsene Wenger or the powers that be at the Emirates Stadium, Mahrez has slipped away and will now stay with Claudio Ranieri’s men for the 2016-17 campaign.

The Arsenal fans are already frustrated by the lack of transfer activity at the club this summer and to see the North African star slip through the Gunners’ fingers will be another reason for disappointment.
