French side Lyon are reportedly weighing up a loan move for Chelsea forward Loic Remy according to The Daily Mail, paving the way for Arsenal to sign Alexandre Lacazette.

The Gunners have had an offer for Lacazette rejected by the Ligue 1 outfit this summer and it remains to be seen whether Arsene Wenger’s men will return with an improved bid.

The striker himself admitted that he would be open to a move elsewhere if Lyon allowed it and it appears to be a matter of the respective clubs agreeing on a price for the deal to eventuate.

The latest report suggests that the French club are preparing a contingency plan to cover the potential for Lacazette leaving and want to bring Remy back to his homeland.

The Chelsea forward is behind Diego Costa and Michy Batshuayi in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge and with Antonio Conte’s men looking for another striker it appears that Remy is surplus to requirements.

Arsenal’s dependence on Olivier Giroud was highlighted in the 4-3 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday, with the France international absent.
