Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil is delaying on a new contract with the Emirates Stadium club because he wants to return to former side Real Madrid, according to Bild.
The crafty German playmaker became the Gunners’ record signing when he swapped the Santiago Bernabeu for North London and has been an integral player for Arsene Wenger’s men since.
Arsenal are believed to be trying to extend and improve Ozil’s deal with the club but as yet there has been no confirmation that the World Cup winner is set to commit, despite a number of false dawns in the media.
Ozil was well-liked at Madrid and a host of players, including Cristiano Ronaldo, reacted with bemusement at the former Werder Breman star’s sale.
Reports of a return to the Spanish capital have emerged in the European media sporadically and the latest suggests that Ozil feels like his work is not done with the famous La Liga side.
