Wenger might just make this transfer happen

|

AubameyangYesterday it was suggested that Arsenal were readying an audacious £42 million move for Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang sometime this month.

The Gabon international, 26, has been in sensational form for Thomas Tuchel’s side this season, having net 24 goals in a total of 23 appearances for the Bundesliga side thus far, and Arsene Wenger is reportedly keen.

The Gunner have previously been linked with a move for Aubameyang, only to see him remain at Dortmund.

However, Arsenal have been given fresh hope of finally landing the versatile striker after Dortmund’s chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke revealed the club ‘are not dependent on anyone’:

‘One must never make the mistake to believe that a club like BVB is dependent on a player. We are not dependent on anyone.

‘We are now so well positioned that we can offer alternative solutions again and again.’

Only a year ago, Dortmund were unwilling to sell their star players, but it appears no one is irreplaceable according to Watzke, and Arsene Wenger will certainly be delighted to hear this as he looks to strengthen his attacking options this January.

But other clubs in Europe are also supposedly interested in the former Saint-Etienne man, which could spark a bidding war.

However, a £42 million offer this January, I believe, would be enough for Arsenal to acquire Aubameyang’s services.
