Arsene WengerArsenal have turned their attention to Nancy starlet Youssef Ait Bennasser and hope to gazump several European clubs for his signature.

The highly-rated 19-year-old midfielder has been ever present for Nancy this season, playing 17 of their 19 Ligue 2 games thus far, and their current position at the top of the French second-tier has been in no small way down to the youngster’s performances.

The six-foot tall Moroccan was only promoted from Nancy’s ‘B’ team over the summer and it is believed his displays have already caught the eye of Arsene Wenger, who is looking to strengthen his squad this summer as they continue their push for the Premier League title.

But according to Telefoot, as reported by the Daily Express, Arsenal will have competition for Bennasser’s signature – It is understood Atletico Madrid, Monaco and Lille are also monitoring the youngster’s progress.

Arsenal are hoping to beat off competition to acquire Bennasser, but Nancy are unlikely to want to sell the Morocco Under-20 international with promotion to Ligue 1 in sight this season.

However, the lure of Arsenal could well tempt Bennasser to continue his learning at the Emirates, while the financial gain from his potential sale may also prove difficult to turn down for Nancy.
