fekir‘If he leaves, it will be for Arsenal. It is the only club that can enable him to progress, with Arsene Wenger.’ – These are the words of Mohamed Fekir, the father of Lyon forward and reported Arsenal target Nabil Fekir, after reports linked the 21-year-old to a move to Manchester City.

The 21-year-old has been linked with a move to the Emirates and talkSPORT suggests the Gunners are preparing a massive £25 million bid for the Lyon youngster in the summer.

The French-Algerian has netted 10 goals and created six assists in 23 appearances in all competitions so far this season and has built a very good relationship with in-demand forward Alexandre Lacazette.

Arsenal may be in the market for a striker this summer after the uncertain futures of Joel Campbell, Lukas Podolski and Yaya Sanogo. This currently leaves the club with only Danny Welbeck and Olivier Giroud as the only two recognisable strikers in the squad and Wenger could well look to bolster his attacking options at the end of the season.

However, it remains to be seen whether Arsenal will actually pursue Fekir, who is currently valued at around £6 million and still has four-and-a-half years left on his current deal at Lyon, this summer.

He looks a typical ‘Wenger signing’ but many would question whether Fekir would replicate his performances at a higher level and in the Premier League.
