The £4M goalkeeping solution?

Guillermo OchoaArsenal have been told they will need to splash out £4 million to sign Guillermo Ochoa, according talkSPORT.

The Mexico international has been previously linked with a move to the Emirates but joined Malaga from Ligue 1 side Ajaccio in August.

However, it is believed the La Liga club are willing to offload Ochoa at the end of the season having struggled to make an impact, and is understood to be open to a move to England.

The 30-year-old goalkeeper has not yet featured in La Liga but has made 10 appearances in the Copa del Rey – clearly, the Mexican is seen as second-choice shot-stopper at Malaga behind Carlos Kameni.

No formal offer or enquiry has been made to Malaga for Ochoa by Arsene Wenger, but with Wojciech Szczesny’s future in doubt, the Frenchman may look to recruit a new goalkeeper at the end of the season, and a £4 million move for the Malaga keeper – who shined at last summer’s World Cup with Mexico – would represent a bargain.

On his day, Ochoa is a brilliant shot stopper who prowls the box like a hungry lion; but he’s just as likely to be sloppy and inconsistent. He’s been wandering the lower halves of the European leagues for a while because in the grind of the season he lets his club down just as much as he lifts them on his back.

A goalkeeper’s job is to make all the routine plays, distribute the ball effectively, and make the saves he can; in that order. Ochoa makes brilliant saves, but he does not do the work-a-day drudgery that makes a keeper a reliable part of his club’s defense.

Petr Cech, Iker Casillas, or even Brad Guzan are all better choices for Arsenal than Ochoa.

i think vincent enyeama would fit better into the arsenal team than ochoa. His buyout clause shouldnt be exhorbitant with past n recent records both making good company with him.
