Stephane SparagnaArsene Wenger may well look to add a few more fresh faces when the January transfer window opens, and is reportedly on the trail of Marseille defender Stephane Sparagna.

The 19-year-old centre-back, who can also play just in front of the back four, has been capped by France at Under-20 level and has been marred by injuries during his time at Marseille, leading to contract talks being put on hold until he regains his fitness.

But the Frenchman’s deal at the Stade Velodrome expires in December which has put Arsenal, Rennes and Udinese all on alert, according to the Daily Mail.

Reports suggest that clubs have already approached Marseille about Sparagna’s availability, but the Ligue 1 outfit believes the youngster will stay put and prove his worth to the side before agreeing any future deal.

We could do with a bit more defensive cover and a move for Sparagna would represent a bargain in Wenger’s eyes, but the defender appears injury-prone and this is something we could do without.
