Last Friday, Robert Pires insisted that Arsenal can win the title if they sign Sami Khedira in January.
The legendary Frenchman, who now plays in India, believes his former club have all the qualities to win the Premier League title but need a robust midfielder like Khedira to join them.
Pires said:
‘Wenger needs a big player in the middle [to win the title], somebody strong, tall and to balance attack and defence,’ Pires explained.
‘They have an opportunity with Khedira. He has a lot of experience and you need that to play in the middle, especially for Arsenal’.
Arsenal were reportedly linked with a move for the 27-year-old German, with a fee agreed with Real Madrid but personal terms with the midfielder weren’t.
However, recent reports in Spain now claim that Khedira is now ready to seal a move to the Emirates when the January transfer window opens with a deal already being agreed.
But is Pires right? Would the addition of Khedira this winter win Arsenal the title?
Although he would be a great signing for the club, as the German would add experience, strength and balance in midfield, I think we still lack a clinical finisher.
We have an array of midfielders in our squad already and although Khedira would add something different to the side, I don’t think we have a forward capable of firing us to the Premier League title.
Khedira is the type of player we crave, but not one that can drive Arsenal to the title – not in my opinion anyway.
Pires is right its time wenger to start signing big and strong players for the sake of our trophys win eg ucl.
wenger should also sign Cavani after Khedira
I don’t think Arsenal will be in the fourth place this season
We need cavani
Then need a striker too
Cavani and Khedira have the qualities Arsenal need to be winners at the highest level, however the whole team have to show a hunger and determination to embrace success
Arsenal for ever
