Porto goal-machine Jackson Martinez recently admitted that he wouldn’t hesitate to accept the chance to play for Arsenal, as reported by the Metro.

With Olivier Giroud struggling for fitness and Nicklas Bendtner reportedly out for a month, as well as Theo Walcott set to be sidelined for a bit, Arsene Wenger may now have to delve in the transfer market and recruit another striker.

A lot of forwards have been linked with a move to the Emirates in the past month. But with The Gunners reportedly keen on Martinez, the Colombian’s latest comments will no doubt enhance their chances of signing the 27-year-old.

Martinez bagged an impressive 29 goals in 28 appearances in all competitions for Porto last season and has continued his fine form this campaign for the Portuguese outfit, finding the back of the net 15 times already.

Porto will desperately want to keep hold of their prized asset and so it will take a huge bid (around the £30 million mark) from the Gunners to get them onto the negotiation table.

However, Martinez, who still has two-years left to run on his existing deal, is clearly keen on a move away from Porto this month:

‘I cheered for Arsenal when I was a kid – I love their style of play,’

‘It’s flowing and open with a lot of first touch passes. It would be suitable for a player like me.

‘If I get a chance to play for a high level club like Arsenal I wouldn’t hesitate to accept it.’
