BerbatovDimitar Berbatov is almost certain to leave Fulham in January when the window opens after his agent Emil Dantchev confirmed the striker has become unhappy at Craven Cottage.

While many fans and pundits alike recognize the 32-year-old can display moments of brilliance on the pitch his lack of motivation and work-rate has been duly noticed over his years in the Premier League.

And it now seems, following Fulham’s poor positioning in the Premier League which sees them in the bottom three with just 10 points from 14 games, that the Bulgarian forward is ready to call it quits and will look for a new club.

And there is no surprise to see Arsenal being mentioned with him this winter, as we have been continually linked with strikers as Arsene Wenger failed to sign a forward to help out Olivier Giroud with the goals.

New Fulham manager Rene Meulensteen newly admitted that he would not stand in Berbatov’s way and has resigned to losing his merucial striker as reported by the Daily Mirror yesterday.

Berbatov, who has only found the net once in 12 Premier League appearances so far this season, signed for Fulham from Manchester United in August 2012 for an undisclosed fee (thought to be around the £5 million mark), but could go for as little as half that price with his current deal at Craven Cottage set to expire next summer.

The only thing which may deter Arsenal’s interest (if reports are to be believed of course) is the player’s wages – he currently pockets £100k-a-week, but it isn’t money that Arsenal can’t afford or even better these days.

Wenger has already ruled out signing another striker over January, claiming Nicklas Bendtner and Theo Walcott are enough to support Giroud with the goal burden. But many believe this to be a ploy from the Frenchman, as he doesn’t like to express an interest in any player and keep his transfer dealings to himself.

I, like many, believe Arsenal could do with another forward coming in, but we all have our favourites.

However, with news of Berbatov’s dismay at Fulham and the chance to bag him for as little as £2-3 million, should Wenger go for him above all others this January?
