Arsenal BadgeHere are my Arsenal player ratings from this afternoon’s 3-1 away win against West Ham:

Wojciech Szczesny – Made a hash off what should’ve been a relatively easy safe which led to West Ham’s goal but apart from that the Pole did well. 6/10

Bacary Sagna – Got forward well and always offered an overlap. Got a few decent balls into the box and did well defensively. 6/10

Per Mertesacker – Another solid performance from the big German centre-back. Read the game superbly and won most if not all of his aerial battles today. 7/10

Thomas Vermaelen – Like Mertesacker, the rejuvenated Belgian pulled out another successful display and is showing us why he is still a valuable member of this side. If he continues to perform the way he has done in recent games I can’t see why he can’t retain his position in the team. 7/10

Kieran Gibbs – The 24-year-old did well going forward and, like Sagna, always offered another option in the attacking third. Was never really troubled when on the back foot. 6/10

Mikel Arteta – Showcased his passing range once again but was very slow to release at times which was frustrating to what. Could have done better with clearing the ball in the lead up to the Hammers’ goal. 5/10

Aaron Ramsey – Has faded in the last few games but was happy to run around and try to make things happen. Wasn’t his best game and picked up a knock after the hour mark. 5/10

Santi Cazorla – Always looked to create and made some intelligent runs off the ball. Had some decent efforts on goal and was probably our best player in the first 45. 6.5/10

Theo Walcott – Missed a sitter in the first-half which had me off my seat shouting abuse at the TV, but managed to bag a brace following a very barren display. 7/10

Mesut Ozil – Looked tired and seems to have lost his cutting edge we first saw when he arrived. Played some nice passes today but definitely needs a rest. 5/10

Olivier Giroud – A very frustrating performance from the French striker. Like Ozil, Giroud looks tired, and nothing seems to be falling for him at the moment. Saying that though, he got another assist. 5/10

SUBS:

Lukas Podolski – The game changed when the German came on in the 65th minute for Ramsey. Offered Arsenal more of an attacking threat, set up Theo’s second goal as well as finishing off the game by bagging the Gunners’ third. Man of the Match for me. 8.5/10

Mathieu Flamini – Came on for Arteta with 10 minutes to go and was deployed in the anchorman role to balance out the midfield. Gave the back four a little more help and helped out in the defensive side of out game. N/A

Nicklas Bendtner – Replaced Giroud in the 85th. Saw a shot go just wide of the post. N/A

Tony Merakli……..here is my rating for your ratings 3/10 because of:

    1) incessant spelling mistakes (I’ve counted 10 so far)
    2) ceaseless negative comments about players who actually performed well, but based on one incident they when didn’t do well!
    3) Overall paucity of rational analysis and rather lazy journalism.

    Better luck next time!

Domhuali I only count one spelling mistake so I think you need glasses mate. As for my ratings these are just based on my opinion having watched the game so I dont care if you disagree or not. Thirdly, what do you define as lazy journalism? Are you a proper journalist or something? Its a blog you clown not a national newspaper

  • Caleb D says:

Well, there were two spelling mistakes and about 5 grammatical errors that are actually sometimes optional. You have omitted commas often.
Other than that, I liked your ratings. Felt you were somewhat harsh in Theo’s rating, as he was, in my opinion, the only player that continuously tested the defense and ran at defenders.

Dis analysis is certainly one of d worst ave read.Did d so called writer watch d match or d back of his tv….D first comment was spot on…

Yeh I watched every minute and was quite bored until the second half to be honest. Some deluded Arsenal fans out there and you seem to be one of them. Analyse the game properly before making a pointless comment mate

I gave Theo a 7/10. I just thought he was very quiet. Only gave him that acore because he managed to find the net twice. Other than that I thought he was very average
