Arsene WengerArsenal are lining up a double swoop for PSV youngsters Georginio Wijnaldum and Zakaria Bakkali, according to reports in Holland.

Dutch publication Voetbal International claims Arsene Wenger sent club scout Peter Clarke, who watches players that the club are ‘extremely interested’ in, to watch the two midfielders in PSV’s opening Eredivisie match against Den Haag last week, and it is thought that The Gunners are ready to step up their interest in the duo.

However, the 22-year-old (Wijnaldum) and 17-year-old (Bakkali) may prove a difficult task for the Frenchman to acquire this summer, with the pair both committing their future to the Eindhoven outfit at the start of the new season.

I’ve saw a bit of Wijnaldum in the Euro Under-21 Championship two months ago, where he made three appearances and scored two goals, and the guy looks a very talented player. The question is – do we want another midfielder, who can play on the wings if needed, coming in this summer?

As for Bakkali, I don’t really know anything about the youngster. Only that he stands at 5’5”, is a right winger, and has only just broke through the PSV first-team this season having been with the club since 2008 at academy level. If Wenger sent scouts out to Holland to watch the Belgium Under-21 international then he must have something about him, right?
