Why we SHOULD consider cashing in on this man (if the price is right of course)

|

Lukas PodolskiFrom the start of the transfer window we’ve been hoping to see some of the deadwood finally leave Arsenal.

However, many fans wouldn’t of expected last summer’s £11 million signing Lukas Podolski.

Despite what his reputation suggests, the German striker has come under-fire for his poor work-rate in the latter part of the season which has often led to him drifting in and out of games. In fact, he was so out-of-favour with Arsene Wenger that he only managed to start the four games in Arsenal’s last 10, and three were due to Olivier Giroud being suspended.

He’s bagged a decent amount of goals in his first season with Arsenal. 16 to be exact. But his lack of consistency has resulted in him possibly being one of the names heading out of the door in this summer’s clear-out, with The Sun recently claiming Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid keen on snapping up the German star that has been somewhat of a fringe player at The Emirates.

It is rumoured that Podolski himself fears for his future at The Emirates, yet insists he is happy in London, though a very tempting offer could see Wenger cash in on the former Bayern Munich and FC Koln man.

But should we sell him if the price is right?

How I see it, it would be an unreasonable move to sell a player we got at the beginning of the season at the very end. Sure, he hasn’t lived up to the expectations that were set but I believe there is room for change and improvement. He no doubt has the quality to become a big player for our club.

However, should an offer arrive that is equivalent or higher than what we paid for him, provided we get someone better, then we should consider selling him.

If this doesn’t happen then I suggest we hang onto the German and work on his attitude and work-rate during pre-season. If this occurs then he could well be a better player for us and contribute more next season.

If the price is right, should we cash in on Podolski this summer?

If the price is right, we can sell the whole team.
It is crap to say Podolski has poor work-rate. It was because of his work-rate and presence, Gibbs had a fine season. Talk about work-rate Theo is much worse as a RW. High work-rate does not mean running up and down the flanks for 90 minutes.
Podolski had some highs and lows in his first Arsenal season, but having double digits in goals and assists, he was doing fine.
Hasn’t lived up the expectation? How much did we spend on him? Just a mere 11 million. Be realistic. If we spent 20 or plus on him then you could speak. How much did we spend on Gervinho? Other deadwoods?
Probably you are just another Poldi hater.

Actually. High work-rate does mean running up and down quite a lot when you’re not in possession of the ball. Podolski often tracked back once every so often. But for longer periods he did seem rather reluctant to do so.
