Why we SHOULD consider cashing in on this man (if the price is right of course)

|

Lukas PodolskiFrom the start of the transfer window we’ve been hoping to see some of the deadwood finally leave Arsenal.

However, many fans wouldn’t of expected last summer’s £11 million signing Lukas Podolski.

Despite what his reputation suggests, the German striker has come under-fire for his poor work-rate in the latter part of the season which has often led to him drifting in and out of games. In fact, he was so out-of-favour with Arsene Wenger that he only managed to start the four games in Arsenal’s last 10, and three were due to Olivier Giroud being suspended.

He’s bagged a decent amount of goals in his first season with Arsenal. 16 to be exact. But his lack of consistency has resulted in him possibly being one of the names heading out of the door in this summer’s clear-out, with The Sun recently claiming Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid keen on snapping up the German star that has been somewhat of a fringe player at The Emirates.

It is rumoured that Podolski himself fears for his future at The Emirates, yet insists he is happy in London, though a very tempting offer could see Wenger cash in on the former Bayern Munich and FC Koln man.

But should we sell him if the price is right?

How I see it, it would be an unreasonable move to sell a player we got at the beginning of the season at the very end. Sure, he hasn’t lived up to the expectations that were set but I believe there is room for change and improvement. He no doubt has the quality to become a big player for our club.

However, should an offer arrive that is equivalent or higher than what we paid for him, provided we get someone better, then we should consider selling him.

If this doesn’t happen then I suggest we hang onto the German and work on his attitude and work-rate during pre-season. If this occurs then he could well be a better player for us and contribute more next season.

If the price is right, should we cash in on Podolski this summer?

If an exchange plus cash for Hummels can be agreed then I’d be quite happy to sell Podolski to Dortmund.

selling him now..wont be good coz podolski is a settled player now..if wenger sells him now…no matter whatever player wenger brings in,that player is gonna need time to settle in..

if wenger buys a player to replace podolski now thn wenger can sell podolski in winter…

if any team is offering 422 MILLIONS FOR PODOLSKI thn wenger should consider selling him.
but thn who’s wenger gonna sign coz podolski is the only arsenal forawrd who draws back to help the team defend…walcott is poor at it…

only podolski has done that well this season…

    wenger can sign schurlle…

Has it ever occured to you that Podolski was playing in a new league, where they don’t even have a Winter break? So if you have finally figured it out, would you find it strange that he was less consistent as the season grew older? The same happened to Per, in the second part of his first season, he was not playing as much as the first part.
If someone gives you 16 goals and 12 assists in his first season, I doubt you would criticise him, let alone want him to go away. I’m happy you’re not the Arsenal manager.

As for me ?? think podolski should b?????? given more playing time instead of olivier giruod, podolski has got the potential & the force to play & win balls

Podolski was ok last season and he should be better next year.It would be more useful to play him in a 4 4 2 as a second striker. It would behove him to learn to complete the full ninety minutes

The excuse of him playing in a different league isn’t one to put up. The Bundasliga is as competitive as the EPL, the only difference is that teams in the EPL are better at physical battles.. So his influence on the field shouldn’t be hidden behind the lack of a ‘winter break.’ He is an amazing player. No doubt. His contribution can’t go unnoticed. But, Giroud. Although lacking in quality did tend to put in more of an effort. Unless Podolski improves on the areas he is lacking in we may experience what he went through with Bayern Munchen.

Sell him and gervino , buy players who want to play for the team and don’t bottle it. Griezmann would be a good choice
