Former Gunner Perry Groves believes Arsenal should sign Gonzalo Higuain, Wayne Rooney and Marouane Fellaini this summer.
The Gunners have been linked with all three players this summer, with Higuain believed to have agreed terms with the club, while both Rooney and Fellaini are supposedly on Arsene Wenger’s wish-list.
And Groves reckons his former club are set for a big summer spending spree thanks to secure finances.
Quoted on talkSPORT.com, Groves said:
‘It’s not either Higuain or Rooney. As an Arsenal fan if you sign Higuain, Rooney and trigger the release clause for Fellaini, then that would increase [the quality of] your side by 30-40% straight away.
‘Higuain can play up front on his own and Rooney is just a [fabulous] footballer. He had a fantastic season, before Robin van Persie went there, when he played up front on his own and he can play in behind a striker.
‘People forget he had one season where he played left wing when Cristiano Ronaldo was there. He can do a job for the team wherever you ask him to. He’s at his best when he’s in the free role.’
He added:
‘I’d take Wayne Rooney in a heartbeat. I don’t think he feels wanted by Manchester United at the moment.
‘The tipping point was when he was left out against Real Madrid, they played Danny Welbeck just behind the striker and Rooney was on the bench.
‘Rooney would have looked at that and thought ‘you think Danny Welbeck is a better player than me’?
‘So if he becomes available, and Arsenal have the finances, the question is would Rooney make the Arsenal a better side and he would 100%.’
Undoubtedly, what Groves is saying is 100% accurate.
With Higuain becoming the main focal point of our attack, Rooney playing just behind him, and Fellaini adding steel, quality and depth to our already impressive midfield, I can see us doing something big next season.
We have the cash to splash this summer. Hopefully Wenger gives the fans what they want and bring in the quality and experience (like Rooney, Higuain and Fellaini) needed to challenge for silverware next season – preferably the Premier League title.

I doubt it if Le Prof. Wenger is a true fan of this great club… We gunners who does not have opportunity of paying stadium fare due to the fact that we are not in UK … We weep daily searching all the newspaper to see if our dear club is making progress about new signing … Today is Ronie … Gonzalo … Fellani… Yes we need this trio if we will be challenging for cup next season … Hey! I think Higuain, Rooney, Fellaini, Rami and Cesar arsenal most prob become the best team alongside bayern and barca and if we can i think we try get lewandolski if we caint get rooney ir really we should go for him more cause if our up front was higuain with lewandoski as CF and in mid have wilshere cazorla fellaini and podolski and in defence have sangna or jenkinson with kocileny rami gibbs and cesar in goal tht be brilliant arsenal team but rooney or lewandoski there both gd players ild like see one of them defo at arsenal with all the other players i metiond 🙂

This is a briliant idea, rooney, higuain, cesar and felainin are really needed at Arsenal so as to help us win trophy this season, fans are sick of being bully by other club fans such as chelsea and man utd. Pls, Prof. you have to do something about this.
that’s just great. Prof, having Williams and Rooney with Gonzalo and Fellaini would be just what we need. My take here is that Ashley Williams would fit in well and contribute more to our defensive strength. So, please don’t jump over him, he could prove the best.
Do us favour and sign Rooney ,he will bring alot of strength to arsenal .
