Time for Wenger to drop this forward? [poll]

I’m just going to cut to the chase – why does Arsene Wenger insist on starting with Gervinho?

What is the Frenchman’s obsession with the Ivorian?

Two questions I simply cannot seem to answer.

The 25-year-old forward has started seven of Arsenal’s eight Premier League matches so far this season, scoring three goals along the way.

But his overall performances since, I would say, the Southampton game have been abysmal to say the very least.

I watched the game yesterday evening and although the team’s overall performance was shocking and lacklustre, I have to say Gervinho was probably the worst player on the pitch by a country mile.

His decision-making was poor, he never released the ball when he should have and never troubled the Norwich back-line – it was like we were playing with 10 men throughout the whole game.

And what was even more frustrating was Wenger’s decision not to substitute him! Like he was playing a blinder or something.

Wenger needs to realise he cannot transform Gervinho into a world class striker like he did with Thierry, as the former simply does not have the ability to lead the line.

In my opinion, I believe Gervinho needs to be dropped from the starting line-up for a while, as his performances to date have simply not been up to scratch.

Think about the team Arsene, not about one player and your ego!

Should Wenger drop Gervinho from the starting line-up?

Ramsey is good cover.. when wilshere back he will only ever make the bench.. then when diaby fit ramsey wont even be 1st choice off the bench..

as for Gervinho! so infuriating.. gives the ball away far to much for Arsenal’s style of play..
Just coz u can run fast doesn’t mean u should get a game!! (cough Walcott cough)

Dont blame giroud…cazorla was not at his best..gervinho was misin, podolski was not in d match at all, ramsey did little to support cazorla, santos went foward too much and plyed holt onside, vermaleen was slipin without challenges, manone didnt know how to punch a ball,…only jenkinson had a good game dat day….giroud didnt perform bcos we ran short of supplies from our midfielders and winger

I prefer gerv to play centerfwd an giroud as a sub. But overall arsenal played a very slow game, there was no good passes in the final 3rd, the midfield couldn’t play the ball through to the forwards. what a poor performance from the arsenal side we know

The Ivorian will need to go along way to prove himself I am afraid.

One thing is certain, money will make you win things. Simple and clear. When You buy peanuts you get monkeys.

I don’t blame Gervino for his inconsistency. If after ten games he is not cut out to play centralstriker drop him.. Play him in his original for which he was bought.
This defeat has been the norm the last 7 years. Remember Hull. The tigers were pulverised but yet won 2-1.This won’t be the last time Arsenal have lost to a lowly team. It has become a disease and Wenger is responsible.
It won’t surprise me if a new man can get the gunners challenging assuming Wenger were to go.The fm is too predictable in his tactics playing into the hands of opponents.Teams play anti soccer but Wenger won’t. Chelsea played anti soccer and won the cl. Nothing wrong with it.I am afraid Wenger has got to get off high horse regarding anti soccer.

Why bother blaming Gervinho? Its not as if he missed a hatful of great chances. Our forwards did not get much of the ball, and our midfield was to blame.
This was not a match of missed opportunities, this was a match where we had plenty of the ball and failed to create very much. Blame the creative players. Cazorla had an off-day. Ramsey was awful.
And if we had a proper keeper, which we have needed for years, we would have at least a point, and no doubt a few more from other games.

  • one thing guys our team has a disease, when we play lower or average we get sick n when we play bigger we become activated. whts going on?

  • Arsenalindo says:

totally agree..drop the ivorian and play arshavin.

Its the usual nonsense. Last year it was Theo` s and Song` s fault. Now its Gervinho` s fault. Well Theo rescued the team against West Ham last time and now that he is injured and soon on his way out the chickens are coming home to roost. Arsenal fc club is a sinking ship and needs Usmanov to rescue it. Arsenal need a new manager full stop. This business of trying to pick scapegoats from players displays a total lack of understanding of the game
