Norwich 1-0 Arsenal – Match Review – I wish Delia was a Gooner!

I wish Delia was a Gooner. For if she were, she may have asked the Arsenal players ‘where are you’, as yesterday evening they were nowhere to be found.

Going into this game, with a combination of results from earlier, Arsenal could have potentially gone fourth. Instead, after a toothless, gormless, insipid, and frankly pathetic all-round performance, we now lie in ninth position. Credit where credit is due, Norwich had a game plan and stuck to it, but nonetheless this really should have been a walk in the park for The Gunners.

Initially, Arsenal looked ok with some solid passing and movement, culminating in a fizzing left footed shot from Lukas Podolski that went narrowly wide. Andre Santos, deputising for the injured Kieran Gibbs, got forward plenty and saw a lot of the ball as well.

However, after a well-struck hit from Alexander Tettey, from around 35-yards, Grant Holt poked in after Vito Mannone parried in front goal. Per Mertesacker really should of done better on the follow-up but blame should be placed on Mannone for spilling the ball in the six-yard box, as opposed to around the corner.

From then on Arsenal always seemed on the back foot, lacking any creativity or decisiveness, and were lucky when Michael Turner should have extended the home side’s lead when he met Anthony Pilkington’s corner, only to head wide from six-yards.

Norwich did well to contain Santi Cazorla, whilst Gervinho and Olivier Giroud were both poor. Apart from in the 51st minute, when Carl Jenkinson sent in a strong cross, only for Giroud to fluff it wide, there was little to speak of in terms of Arsenal’s attacking prowess.

This was The Gunners’ first defeat since 1984 at Carrow Road, and it was well deserved.

Last season, a certain Dutch Voldemort scored twice to give Arsenal the win. He certainly would have been helpful today. Instead, he’s listening to the Happy Mondays, in the rain, looking realistically at winning something this season. Arsenal, however, based on this performance, do not.

Well, Arsenal retained domination throughout the match, but Norwich monopolized on a chance they had.

Same old Arsenal, same old Wenger refusing to take any blame, the man is a joke, every season we lose to lesser teams, every season the same old defensive errors, the lack of commitment, every season we sell our best players and we replace them with crap players, the club is in a mess and that is down to Wenger who lives in the past, who clings to power like a demented despot, the board are a joke, profit before success that’s the motto, 4th spot is our ambition and I hope we fall short this season so everyone will finally realise the damage that fool is doing. When asked why Wilshire didn’t come on he replies it was too intense for him but not for a lazy Russian and a kid, take a bow Wenger you egomaniac

People need to relax. Everyone who actually pays attention knew that Jack never going to play. The plan was always for him 90 minutes and an u-21 match on Monday then possibly start next weekend in the capital one match.

As for the goal i put the blame on the defenders who didn’t pressure tettey on the initial shot and just looking around after it was blocked. Although it want his best game at least we saw gervinho get into good positions and get involved in the game.

I think what killed us this game was that we had no one driving forward from deep, a la diady, to create space for cazorla who was guilty of straying out wide too often.

    1) wtf is with gervinho playing full time
    2) whtz holy with the 65th minute?
    3) why dint buy a good goalie knowing vito is league class & fabianski is crap. even spurs have 2 good ones
    4) why do we still carry rosicky, diaby
    5) why dont we have a striker in the bench ?

Gervinho and Podolski are are strikers too.

Mannone lost us the game. His next performance will be worse than this one.

Delia Smith going on about a 12th man isn’t wise in front of Arsenal fans. Just ask Eboue.
