Former Germany international Pierre Littbarski believes success will follow newly acquired Gunner Lukas Podolski, who has been in fine form this season, netting 18 goals in 29 Bundesliga appearances.
The 26-year-old striker said farewell to boyhood club FC Koln as they were relegated from the Bundesliga in a very hostile fashion.
The German’s next adventure now lies in the Premier League with Arsenal and Littbarski had nothing but praise for his compatriot and refused to judge Podolski’s decision to leave the club.
He told Goal.com:
‘Lukas Podolski is a unique player. I believe that he will be very successful at Arsenal.
‘It’s not up to me to judge whether he has made the right decision to sign for Arsenal. He has always given his all for Koln and has put in many good performances.
‘Who am I to say that he should stay or leave? He has made his own decision and he will definitely do a good job at Arsenal.’
Truth be told I do believe Poldo will produce great things with and for us. He is no doubt a very committed player with talent. His head is in the game at all times and clearly loyal to the club he plays for.
I can’t wait to see him in action and pick up from where he left of next season. Hopefully he will be partnering Robin van Persie up front and not replacing him!
