10 minutes in and Theo Walcott sweeps into the box for the second time, only this time he gets clattered after he has dispatched the ball into the bottom left hand corner.
2-0 up, v 10 men, game over, we knocked it down a couple of gears and coasted to a comfortable victory on Wednesday night.
Off the pitch, it’s seems Arsene Wenger is getting in the queue for this years summer sales early, to avoid a post €’s price hike and the embarrassing panic buying that ensued last August. With Lukas Podolski apparently ‘in the bag’, two more big name signings look to be wending their merry way to The Emirates.
After stating his desire to play for The Arsenal, Belgian target Jan Vertonghen’s current boss Frank DeBoer has been quoted as saying:
‘Yes we’ve already discussed it. When there’s a club that he’s already interested in – and it’s really got to be a good club – then he will leave.
‘It’s 100 per cent sure. I think he’s ready to make a next step. For us, it’s a setback, of course, to miss that kind of quality player.’
All indications are that Jan should be plying his trade at The Emirates from August 2012.
Also firmly on Wenger’s radar seems to be American ‘soccer ball’ player Clint Dempsey. With head scout Steve Rowley regularly reporting back on the Fulham striker; apparently a £10 million fee is to be imminently tabled to tempt Dempsey to join Arsene’s revitalised squad.
Hopefully with three down and with space for possibly one more, the summer spending should be sorted.
The racing favourite for this final spot is Yann M’Villa. But looking at the squad, with Jack Wilshere and Abou Diaby (if he can stay fit) on their way back and Vertonghen’s ability to play in midfield, do we really need the Rennes enforcer?
That then just leaves us with a few bargain bucket sales of our own to arrange!!!

I like to agree with all 3, Podolski, Vertonghen, and also M’Villa. Vertonghen provides flexibility (leftback and defensive midfielder, and M’Villa is simply necessary cos AW is going to push Song more central or upfront, considering his outstanding supply passes.
I think this should be the team next season:
Szczesny,Sagna,Koscielny,Vermaelen,Vertonghen,
Song,Wilshere,Walcott,Hazard/Dempsey,Van Persie(C),
Podolski. Bench:Martinez,M’Vila,Arteta,Eriksen,
Belhanda,Chamberlain,Giroud. Please comment on what you think of my comment
Beautiful rubb**h and over ambitious. Face d fact. Are u saying we are selling 25 players ds summer and bringing in 25 players as replacements?
@Jack, you need to go and start reading your books and then come back when you are through with high school, kid!
Shut up, I’ve got my thoughts and you’ve got your stupid fault and your dum, do you see 25 players sold in my team, all I want sold is Almunia, Fabianski, Mannone,Squillaci,Vela,Park Chu Young, Bendtner,Chamakh,Mertesacker,Gervinho,Arshavin and Denilson. That’s only 12 you doshbag, not 25!!!!!!!!
Why sell Geo & BFG?
I *LOVE* the idea that someone can be as incomprehensibly stupid as to insult someone else’s intelligence by calling them “dum”.
Oh dear oh dear.
And what is a dosh bag? A wallet or so ?
Nice sellings I agree bt neva sell Per n Gerv. Where is Roscky n Ramsey on ur bench?
Jack: You`ve been on the good stuff.
We can’t get all the players. Who will pay?
“… With Arsenal edging closer to a top four finish, following their 2-0 win at Wolves on Wednesday, Arsene Wenger should look to start off his summer shopping as soon as. … ”
It should read 3-0 !
hey, dude, you’ve forgoten of te great job of arteta this season, he’s being so great in the midfield, with solid tackles turning defence to attack. Can’t imagine our midfield without him . Even roscisky ( when he’s in form) he’s wonderful when he is in form
Future looking Bright for the Gunners…Am certain that the gunners will lift a trophy next year.
Vertonghen or M’Villa.
wenger wil not bring in both of them who will most likely be on the bench.
to be honest i rather we have mVilla and if the worst happens at the back song can play there
Song is great going foward but too many times he dose not play the defensive role that we need in the team,
attacking has never been our problem
so there no need for song to go foward too much.
i would get
podolski
Mvilla.
and a creative midfiled we still aint replaced fabrigas.
we only has ramsey and rosicky who can play there
and that dose not sound good.
i think someone like erikson or hazard who are both young can do that role in our team.
@Jack-Since you asked for a comment.
The list makes no sense. What do you think Arsenal is, Man City?
Bringing in 7 new players will upset any squad. Moreover, the squad we have now started badly, but flying now. That says a lot of the quality in the squad.
And how much of these players have you seen play? How do you know they will make the squad better?
The addition of Vertonghen and Podolski make sense. I really don’t see M’Vila in the team though.
Rubbish, we dont need jan or m’villa. what will happen to le coq and frimpong? and they are about the same age.
and if they were to come, does that mean arteta will have to sit on the bench? defensively we are okay, offensively we are too reliant on rvp. its that area we should focus on.
1st team
arteta song jack
2nd team
diaby/ ramsey coq rozza
ox can play on am as well. and dont forget lansbury, im hoping wenger to give this kid a chance.
At last some sense. I guess it’s easier to fantasize about transfers than to discuss tactics…
The comment about ‘bargain buckets’ shows no class.
I suspect Dempsey will replace Yossi while a young midfielder like Belhanda may replace Asharvin. Vertonghen will come in only if AW has finally decided to have 5 centre backs because of the tendency for injuries in the defense line. Rotation is then implied. I suspect AW is very much interested in M’vila but I can’t figure out why. We need a “field marshal”, that can hold on to the ball and rove around and M’vila can develop into that role. Who then goes? We have several players upcoming- Ramsey, Wiltshire, Coquelin, Lansbury- all box to box type players.
I’m hoping we keep Yosi & think Ryo will come back to replace AA. Podolski & Dempsey to replace Young & Chamack.
Back Coq & frimpong to be Song’s cover
Ryo has at least 2 seasons development before he can have an impact across the whole season. Bolton play him week in week out because they have a thin squad – something Arsenal don’t have to worry about.
Frimpong and Coquelin will probably do the job of M’Villa without the transfer fee, so for me its Poldoski, Vertonghen and an attacking midfielder – not Belhanda as he reminds me way too much of Taraabt.
Buy 4, sell 8, promote ryo miyaichi, benik afobe, kyle bartley, and coquelin.
8 being? My guess, Manuel, Schilachi, Chamack, Bendtner, Park, Arshavin (shame), Denilson & Vela ??
