Arsenal keeping tabs on Nacional defender

Arsenal are closely monitoring the progress of C.D. Nacional’s Luis Neto, according to reports in Portugal.

Sports publication O JOGO suggests Arsene Wenger has sent scouts to watch the 23-year-old centre-back in the lead up to the summer transfer window.

As a result of Arsenal’s reported interest in Neto, C.D. Nacional are preparing to offer the former Portugal Under-21 international a new improved four-year contract to remain at the Madeira based club.

I have to admit that I hardly know anything about the lad. All I know is he is a 6’1’’ defender of the Varzim youth academy, and has been with Nacional for almost a year, making 21 appearances for the Portuguese club so far.

It will be interesting to see whether Wenger makes advances, but I for one highly doubt it as we have enough defensive players in our squad.

German outfit Hannover 96 are also believed to be interested in the defender’s services.
