Liverpool v Arsenal – Match preview

|

Arsenal team news:

It’s been reported Robin van Persie and Thomas Vermaelen are doubts for the game after both picking up minor injuries during the international break.

Aaron Ramsey is ruled out with an ankle injury, while Tomas Rosicky may not feature also.

Abou Diaby is back in contention after recuperating from a long-term hamstring problem, while Francis Coquelin, Per Mertesacker and Andre Santos are all sidelined.

Key player: Mikel Arteta

I strongly believe if Arsenal are to win this game then the Spanish midfielder must pull out another great performance in midfield. His passing must be on point and accurate, and his energy levels and work-rate need to be high. The 29-year-old has done exceptionally well for the Gunners since his arrival in the summer and is arguably our unsung hero.

Likely line-up:

Szczesny

Sagna          Koscielny          Djourou          Gibbs

Arteta          Song

Benayoun

Walcott                                             Gervinho

Chamakh

NOTE: If RVP, Vermaelen, and Rosicky are fit to play then they will take the places of Chamakh, Djojo and Yossi

Prediction:

This really depends on who starts for us upfront. If RVP is fit and selected then I’m confident we could bag a win against Liverpool. However, if Chamakh starts then we may struggle to find the net as his one goal in 14 appearances suggests.

Score: A 2-1 Arsenal win if RVP starts, or a 1-1 if Chamakh is chosen to lead the line.
