Wow! Let me catch my breath. What a wonderful game. A fantastic north London Derby to cherish. What a performance, a stunning 5-2 victory. Stunned, absolute stunned.

We started off slowly but picked it up. Even when we went 2 down, we showed that the game was ours to win.

Here are my Arsenal player ratings for today:

Wojciech Szczesny – He conceded two goals, all be it both were lucky ones for Spurs – a deflection and a penalty which should never have been given. But to be honest, apart from those moments, the 21-year-old didn’t have much to do – 6.5/10

Bacary Sagna – Mr. Consistent was exceptional today. Kept Gareth Bale quiet, made good runs forward, one of course which helped set up a goal. Scored a wonderful header which sparked the revival – 7.5/10

Thomas Vermaelen – The Belgian seemed to be a bit off the pace in the opening stages. He looked a bit out of sorts in his natural role after playing left-back the past few weeks. Left some huge gaps in the back-line, but did settle as the game went on. Won most of his duels and broke up play well. Made vital clearances and tackles – 7/10

Laurent Koscielny – Won most aerial battles, made good trademark bursts forward, defended well and had Emmanuel Adebayor into his back pocket. A bit suspect in the opening minutes but settled into the game – 7.5/10

Kieran Gibbs – Much like Sagna, Gibbs did what he does best, made good runs and kept his position well. Kyle Walker and Bale ran at him a few times, but the youngster managed to keep them both at bay – 7/10

Mikel Arteta – Bossed the midfield. Distributed the ball brilliantly, got stuck in, set up the first goal and made vital interceptions. Great performance from the Spaniard – 8/10

Alex Song – With Arteta alongside him, Song just makes the centre of the park his playground. Set up a lovely ball for Walcott’s second, defended well and made some tough tackles…Scotty who? 8/10

Tomas Rosicky – Man of The Match, like Van Persie, our number 7 was un-playable today. Made some brilliant passes, good interceptions and scored a goal – 9/10

Yossi Benayoun – With Andrey Arshavin away, Yossi took his starting opportunity by the horns. He was excellent, certainly wasn’t going to be pushed about. Made some good runs, played some lovely balls here and there and looked threatening on the counter – 7.5/10

Theo Walcott – In all honesty, his first half was a ‘hands over eyes’ performance. Lucky not to be given the hook at the interval after some poor passes and the occasional bad decision making. His second half performance was much better, scored two goals which were easy on the eye. He would have had a higher rating if not for the first 45 – 8/10

Robin van Persie – His runs were good, held the ball up well to set up Theo’s first and scored a wonderful curler to level matters before the second half. It’s like Arsene Wenger was playing FIFA 12, a finesse shot beautifully placed into the top corner – 8.5/10

Carl Jenkinson – Replaced Gibbs in the 75th minute. Thought he would be outrun with the pace of the game, proved me wrong. Held his own for 15 minutes – 6/10

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – Didn’t get much of a look in upfront, but could have if Van Persie had played him in when we countered at one point – 5/10

Gervinho – Much like the Ox, Geo didn’t have much to do, didn’t have enough time on the ball – 5/10

YOU HAVE NO IDEA – HOW ON EARTH CAN YOU GIVE A PLAYER(WALCOTT), WHO HAD A SHOCKING FIRST HALF AND WAS POOR UNTIL HIS 2 GOALS 8/10. HE SCORED 2 ROUTINE GOALS WHEN WE WERE 3-2 UP THAT APART WAS A DISGRACE AND YOU GIVE HIM ONE MARK LESS THAN ROSICKY, THE SAME MARK AS SONG AND MORE THAN ALL OF THE BACK FOUR! YOU REALLY HAVE NO IDEA!

I must concur on the Walcott rating, however, its very difficult to mark a player, who has scored two goals, low. I’m sure there have been plenty of occassions when newspapers have given top rating to someone who has scored 2 or even 3 goals yet been pretty much useless for the rest of the match. It happens and I wouldnt get so het up as to use all capital letters mate. Calm down 😉

Routine goals..ur aving a laugh..they were great finishes.. u ever played the game?

  • G. Mann says:

I have constantly said that Rosicky should start ahead of Ramsey – Look at our 2 biggest results this seaon( Blackburn and Spurs) both these games Ramsey did not feature. Walcott 8/10 is a joke he was CRAP! 5/10 at best – Are you his relative?

Goals get u ratings. And he got 2. His 2nd half performance was excellent. His first half I admit left a lot to be desired… Received a round of applause when he came off. Guess I wasn’t the only one who thought he improved and played well.

Two fantastic goals from Theo today. But apart from that – and perhaps three or four good passes in the second half – he was so embarrasingly poor.
Rating: 4,5 (1 for his first half + 8 for his second half).
He remains a total mystery to me, because sometimes he seems to have no football brain at all. Just one example: Robin and Theo in a counter attack in the final minutes. Robin carrying the ball forward, Theo starts an overlapping run from left to right, behind Robin. Robin sees that, keeps the ball for another two seconds and passes to the right where Theo SHOULD have been. But no Theo because he has stopped (!!!) his run.
Does he have any idea what he is doing when he doesn’t have the ball? Or even when he has the ball, for that matter? Compared to the vision of the 18 year old Ox, Theo sometimes looks like a 12 year old school kid!
I’ll forgive him, though, if he gets a couple of goals in each of the remaining games. But it’s amazing to see a player on an international level with such a poor technique and so terrible decision-making.

The main reason why we won is bcos ramson and jduru did not play. Ramson kills all our players spirits when ever he on the pitch and i believe wenger knws that fact. I think wenger uses him when ever our oponent has offer him some money for the match. Thank God totham believe in them self and thats they are delt with by wenger if not they cud av offer him money and win the match easly. Asene dnt need truphy but profit and he is ready to sacrify anythg 4 the purpose of that profit. Sory bout the fact. Rosisky u are the mom

Bless you for trying but its Ramsey, Rosicky and Djourou. I understand you are foreign but please get the names of the players from the team you love right.

Good performance but let’s not get too carried a way. We need to back it up next week and I am happy for Rosicky today because he came from out of shadow of the departed Fabregas & Nasri and showed some of his qualities which made him such a star in 07/08 season.

The Anfield game is going to be massive next week and they will be on a massive high and playing with confidence.

I still say we need 4/5 top players too compliment the current squad. You need balance to a squad to win the premier league & trophies look at Man Utd today Welbeck, Hernandez, Young and Nani had shocker in front of goal and was Scholes & Giggs who showed their class and experience.

  • BallaBalla says:

@b johnson If a player scored 70 premier league goals per season, would you rate him under an 8 for the whole season? Don´t think so, same goes for 1 game. A player which scores 2 goals (almost 3) deserves an 8

  • Zigzag says:

I think Sagna deserved a better rate. What more could he do? If it wasn’t for Rosicky he would be our MOM. As much as I like Ramsey I thought his injury was a blessing in disguise and it proved right. I know he’s got a fantastic engine but it seems that all his running around has little impact on the game. Hope Rosicky stays fit and todays injury proves minor. Same for Vermaelen of course.
What a day, what a game, don’t remember myself screaming so much for ages. Great job Arsene, heh boo boys?

  • Bergs says:

Big TV fan and Wenger really should have let him play CB a few more times b4 these crunch matches, things might have been different vs Milan and Sunderland. Harry saved TV’s bacon by taking off Saha, but TV will be alright the next match.

What a joy it was to watch 2 fit full backs hammering up the pitch giving some attacking energy to our team!!!!!! BIG effect on the team. wonderful

  • Mes says:

Excellent performance from he 35th minute and onwards, only thing disappointing is we have lost Vermalen and Rosicky to injuries and they won’t play on Wednesday and are even a doubt for Liverpool away! 🙁
