Wow! Let me catch my breath. What a wonderful game. A fantastic north London Derby to cherish. What a performance, a stunning 5-2 victory. Stunned, absolute stunned.

We started off slowly but picked it up. Even when we went 2 down, we showed that the game was ours to win.

Here are my Arsenal player ratings for today:

Wojciech Szczesny – He conceded two goals, all be it both were lucky ones for Spurs – a deflection and a penalty which should never have been given. But to be honest, apart from those moments, the 21-year-old didn’t have much to do – 6.5/10

Bacary Sagna – Mr. Consistent was exceptional today. Kept Gareth Bale quiet, made good runs forward, one of course which helped set up a goal. Scored a wonderful header which sparked the revival – 7.5/10

Thomas Vermaelen – The Belgian seemed to be a bit off the pace in the opening stages. He looked a bit out of sorts in his natural role after playing left-back the past few weeks. Left some huge gaps in the back-line, but did settle as the game went on. Won most of his duels and broke up play well. Made vital clearances and tackles – 7/10

Laurent Koscielny – Won most aerial battles, made good trademark bursts forward, defended well and had Emmanuel Adebayor into his back pocket. A bit suspect in the opening minutes but settled into the game – 7.5/10

Kieran Gibbs – Much like Sagna, Gibbs did what he does best, made good runs and kept his position well. Kyle Walker and Bale ran at him a few times, but the youngster managed to keep them both at bay – 7/10

Mikel Arteta – Bossed the midfield. Distributed the ball brilliantly, got stuck in, set up the first goal and made vital interceptions. Great performance from the Spaniard – 8/10

Alex Song – With Arteta alongside him, Song just makes the centre of the park his playground. Set up a lovely ball for Walcott’s second, defended well and made some tough tackles…Scotty who? 8/10

Tomas Rosicky – Man of The Match, like Van Persie, our number 7 was un-playable today. Made some brilliant passes, good interceptions and scored a goal – 9/10

Yossi Benayoun – With Andrey Arshavin away, Yossi took his starting opportunity by the horns. He was excellent, certainly wasn’t going to be pushed about. Made some good runs, played some lovely balls here and there and looked threatening on the counter – 7.5/10

Theo Walcott – In all honesty, his first half was a ‘hands over eyes’ performance. Lucky not to be given the hook at the interval after some poor passes and the occasional bad decision making. His second half performance was much better, scored two goals which were easy on the eye. He would have had a higher rating if not for the first 45 – 8/10

Robin van Persie – His runs were good, held the ball up well to set up Theo’s first and scored a wonderful curler to level matters before the second half. It’s like Arsene Wenger was playing FIFA 12, a finesse shot beautifully placed into the top corner – 8.5/10

Carl Jenkinson – Replaced Gibbs in the 75th minute. Thought he would be outrun with the pace of the game, proved me wrong. Held his own for 15 minutes – 6/10

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – Didn’t get much of a look in upfront, but could have if Van Persie had played him in when we countered at one point – 5/10

Gervinho – Much like the Ox, Geo didn’t have much to do, didn’t have enough time on the ball – 5/10

Why so bitter my spud friend? Show some love for the Arsenal.

      • legolas still trust Wenger says:

hahahh Spurs was dreaming of win against Arsenal Home & Away but they r soooo frustrated we showed that even with our crisis we r kings of london

    • wandarah says:

It’s true, we are vulnerable to sallow tempo. I fucking hate sallow tempo. Terrible stuff.

    • Arsenalfanaltheway says:

hahaha lol…at least we’ll be facing an opposition thats way out of your league……hahahaha….
have a bittersweet memory my dear Spud friends….bwahahahahaha…….

  • Winata says:

Tomas Rosicky did it all.. no doubt, the man of the match.. i hope he could get his contract renewed.. i’d like to see Yossi stay as well. anyway.. yeah.. that’s a stunning comeback!

    • Dan says:

Well, Rosicky did very well ndeed and we can still hold our heads high as the big noise in London. But was he playing for a contract? I have watched in many other matches looking busy but achieving very little. Equally I have watched him disappear completely from a match. Ultimately I suppose, the same could be said of the entire midfield. Can we maintain some form please?

      Welldone guys!!!

      • shockandawe says:

Id be more than happy for Rosicky to stay. I have been singing his praises this year. He delivers far more than Ramsey does. His experience could be vital over the coming weeks.

There is something in football,Arterta’s mid is not as good as cesc, attacking, distributing & scoring;Rosisky tends to be uping his game on this,it will be interesting to see how he fares till the end of the season(Ronaldo-rooney).TV5 +kossy needs to establish a solid connection, that will help the fullbacks(gibbs),whose games most of the time has been poor.

  • Stuart says:

I hope those calling for certain players to be axed didn’t embarrass themselves by celebrating their goals today!

    • Dan says:

Of course we did! we love the Arsenal and our discontent with mediocrity where ever it is to be found remains undiminished

      • Patlow71 says:

Totally agree Dan, one good game doesn’t paper over the cracks, and let’s be brutally honest and I don’t mean to be unfair Walcott only play fro 25 mins, he was shockingly poor before his first goal.

The way I saw yesterday was a bit of brightness in a miserable season but let’s just hope this kicks in a bit of spirit and fight until the end of the season

        • shockandawe says:

We pay our money which gives us the right to express pleasure or disspleasure as and when we please. If the team gave that much effort every game we would be pushing for the title not fourth spot and that’s what annoys the fans most.

        • Stu says:

Paying your money doesn’t give you the right to boo, being the opposition however does give you the right to boo so you need to have a look at your priorities tbh.

You have a CHOICE and you CHOOSE whether or not to spend your money, no one makes you spend your money so don’t come on here claiming you have a divine right to try further dampen morale just because Arsenal are not a near guaranteed win every week now.

Did I tell you, I went to a restaurant about 3 weeks ago and the food was disgusting. I wont go back there again out of choice (oh look, that word again)

  • gunner4lyf says:

The one good thing about having Mertersacker was that he would bring in more than a semblance of order amongst the defenders which is more than what I can say about Thomas Vermaelen. He is too adventurous at times (advancing too forward for one’s liking) leaving the back line in shambles. Mertersacker, I felt got unwarranted critisicm, even though the defense was solid with him at CB. He seemed to be able to marshal the back 4 better with Kos than Vermaelan even though Vermaelan is the better defender 1 on 1.

  • sajomanase says:

Well done gunners it was a humilliative game for our opponents.if we’ll be playing like this always.the game versus ac milan will be so tough.

  • Just-ice says:

Rosicky M.O.M. No doubts. Welldone gunners.

  • Billy says:

Today was a tough game to be a Spurs fan. Even at 2-0 we were poor and deserved what we got. It was clear your team wanted itmore.

Now thekey for Arsenal is Consistency, by next week u could be as little as 4 points behind us.

    • Billy says:

But do you think you can continue to play like this or do you think this is the last fight for life for a team that will be broken up this summer?

Are you willing to continue to be patient to see if this side ever develops?

  • Arkadiy says:

Sp*rs best team in 50 years got boxed-up on the ropes at the Emirates! C’mon Arsenal…

  • Northbanksey says:

Not our greatest footballing display but if we could see that level of committment every week I think we’d all be happy. A similar level of support from the faithfull at the Emirates every home game would help too. At 2 nil down I’ve never heard such support for our team before!!!! It’s not just about the players you know.
