Arsenal’s Wojciech Szczesny reckons he has the leadership qualities that the club are lacking.

The Gunners have made a disastrous start to the new Premier League season, with many pundits and some Arsenal fans pinpointing the lack of leadership on the field and behind the scenes events being the cause of the problem.

However, the 21-year-old shot-stopper has recently admitted his desire to one day captain the north London club and is hoping to eventually succeed current skipper Robin van Persie in the future.

Despite his age, Szczesny believes he has the authority to command his team-mates on the field, including those who are more experienced than him.

The Polish international told polskathetimes.pl:

‘I feel that when I say something, everyone listens to me. More so on the field than in the dressing room, but that’s more important I think.’

‘I want to be the captain of the team. I feel that I am able to take on that responsibility. I always wanted to be captain and if I ever get that honour, I will gladly put on the armband.’

Although it is not ideal for a goalkeeper to be a captain, I truly believe that Shezza has got what it takes to captain the Gunners in the future.

It’s clearly evident that the youngster loves the club and also has great communicational skills, which is vital for any skipper to have.

When RVP’s time is up at Arsenal, or if he decides to leave the club in the near future, then I firmly believe that Szczesny should be considered as the next Arsenal captain. He may not be given the armband though as Vermaelen is probably next in line, but I do think that the Pole will one day lead the team out.

T.V 5 and Jack are better options since they roam on the pitch than goalie.

Please szcezesny should be told to concentrate and improve in his goalkeeping, the second goal he conceeded against spurs is too cheap to be conceeded by some one who wanted to captain a team. I see him as a lucky goalkeeper like other arsenal keepers, because i still maintain arsenal don’t have a goalkeeper
