Medical team not to blame for clubs injury woes claims ex-Gunner

|

Parlour also warned Wilshere against setting a time scale for recovering from his injury. Rumours suggested that Wilshere was only three weeks away from returning to action, but having gone under the knife it means he won’t be back until around the Christmas period:

‘You should never put pressure on yourself to get yourself fit.’

He added:

‘You should never give yourself three or four weeks to get back because you never know how you heal. Sometimes you’re quicker, sometimes you’re longer.’

‘Really he shouldn’t say that he’s going to be back in three weeks when it could be five or it could be one week, who knows?’

Whether or not the medical team are to blame for injury occurrence at the club, the fact is our players do pick up quite a lot. Why? I don’t know.

In the past, Arsenal have sometimes been accused of not taking care of their players. These accusations usually come about when a player is said to be out for a week, which then turns into two, then three, the next thing you know the injured player is out for a couple of months. A good example of this is was with Thomas Vermaelen last season.

This type of news is very misleading and brings false hope to fans and players alike, and it should come as no surprise when the medical team is questioned by them.

If it’s the players who have become weaker over time as Parlour suggests, then what can be done to make them less injury-prone and keep the squad at full strength? Yes, there is nothing the medical team can do to avoid injuries occurring, but there is a lot they can do to limit the time players are out for.
