Has Wenger made a mockery of this man?

Arsene Wenger has been accused of making a mockery of Andrey Arshavin in his homeland by misusing his skills, according to Sergei Vedeneev.

As of late Arshavin has become a bit part player for Arsenal, usually racking up his appearance tally by coming off from the bench 15 minutes or so from time.

The Diminutive forward, who arrived from Zenit back in 2009, has clearly fallen out-of-favour with Wenger, as the Frenchman prefers to use new arrival Gervinho and Theo Walcott over the 30-year-old Russian these days.

This has lead to Vedeneev, a Russian football pundit, accusing Wenger of making Arshavin look like a joke in his homeland and also claims that the Arsenal boss has a history of playing players in the wrong positions.

Vedeneev was quoted in the Daily Mail saying:

‘He’s become a caricature of himself.’

‘Wenger has a history of positioning players wrongly. Arsenal exploit Arshavin insolently.’

Funnily enough, I agree with the Russian pundit – I too think Wenger has made Arshavin look like a laughing stock at Arsenal.

The Russian forward is a talented player. Granted, he is a little lazy, but how would you feel if you were playing out of position and was hauled off, or was coming on for the last 15 minutes of the game week in week out? Even when he outperforms Walcott he is substituted, this is probably due to his fitness more than anything, but still, it must be frustrating for Andrey. I know he is not a 90 minute man, well according to Wenger anyway, but to be taken off or coming on as a sub every week must be disheartening for Dre.

This is not a dig at Wenger whatsoever, but I too feel he has misused Arshavin’s skills in the last year or so and because of this we do not see what the little Russian can truly do.

But as a professional, surely he should give his 100% rather than have his little strop and say ‘I’m not playing if I can’t play there’. It’s laziness and arrogant of him to think he should not adapt to the team and that has let him down!
