How Arsenal players fared against United yesterday – my ratings

Here are my Arsenal player ratings from yesterday’s disgraceful 8-2 defeat at the hands of Manchester United at Old Trafford:

Wojciech Szczesny – The only guy I felt sorry for wearing an Arsenal shirt. Conceded 8 goals, but some of them were unstoppable and his back four let him down – 6/10

Carl Jenkinson – Inexperience was visible. The 19-year-old was run ragged by Young and Nani, and his positioning was awful. Got sent off – 3/10

Johan Djourou – His defending for the first goal illustrated all that is wrong with Arsenal’s back-line. Didn’t do anything noteworthy – 4/10

Laurent Koscielny – Made a few good interceptions during the 90 minutes, but the Frenchman was way off the mark yesterday – 4/10

Armand Traore – Tactically, Traore was garbage. His awareness and positioning gave Nani and Smalling the freedom of Old Trafford. Hope he seals a deal to QPR. Simply not good enough – 3/10

Aaron Ramsey – Under the circumstances, the youngster did alright. Tried to take the game to United, but had no outlet – 6/10

Francis Coquelin – Was understandably nervous to begin with but got better as the game went on. Did an ok job in the middle of the park, but United took advantage of his inexperience – 5/10

Tomas Rosicky – Made a few incisive passes, but nothing that really gave United’s defence any real problems. Expected better from Tomas – 4/10

Theo Walcott – Despite his goal and winning Arsenal a pen, Theo was largely anonymous yesterday. Never used his pace to scare the United defence. Typical performance from the England international – 5/10

Andrey Arshavin – Most effective outfield player in my opinion. Granted, it wasn’t a great performance from the little Russian, but at least he had a go. Needs to work on his tackling though – 6/10

Robin van Persie – His early penalty miss ultimately affected his performance. Bagged a goal late on, but the game was already over. Captain in armband only yesterday – 5/10

Substitutes:

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – Came on for Coquelin just after the hour. Had a few touches on the ball – 4/10

Henri Lansbury – Replaced Walcott in the 83rd minute. Felt bad for the lad having to come on and be apart of the demolition.

Marouane Chamakh – Came on for RVP along with Lansbury. Touched the ball once and lost it.

The Arsenal Board are happy to take our money for tickets and merchandise but are not willing to spend some money on players. Time we started boycotting games until they start spending some money on players. You can help save our team by doing one of the following: Boycott future games until we spend 70 Million on new players or Bring a red card with you to the games! Lets show the red card to Wenger and the Board

djourou and traore 1/10. even 1 is a compliment. how did he become a defender. he would be good enough for a linesman.

Shambolic ,is the understatment, but Wenger aka genral custer does not see it the way 20million others see it , we need the like of Ribery,Snidjer,Kaka,Hazzad,Cahill, Mertsacker , into the team we deserve these players , we pay good money and we are not getting VFM, YES WE WILL HAVE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT BOYCOTING, Arsene has to go that is for sure , he is the manager and if the board are not backing him then he should resign , i think Pat Rice is a NO NO the man proved two weeks ago what ability he has when he was looking up at Wenger asking what shall I do now , Man city have the Arsenal back room there with Veiera AND PLATT, What a great job and influence they have , Bring back david Dein and lets say goodbye to Gazidies and Kroenke , what have they done for the Club since they came in , they have taken us backwards , Usmanov and Anchelloti are other options , we need to do something now , this will happen again before the end of the season unless we act now….

Djourou was dreadful and should be sold in January along with Chamack. Squillo and Arsh. In the meantime– the two centrebacks we have needed for 2 years and now also, a left back, are an absolute priority. All we need then is a coach who can meld them into a defensive unit and a leader on the pitch at the back to make sure they do it. We were doing OKish- until the penalty miss and the childish behaviour of Djourou at the back. Many players are tired because of the injuries and the suspended idiots. Trying to chase the game at 3-1 was crazy. I have seen 6 Championship sides this year so far and all would give ManU’s attack more problems than did Arsenal. This was not a day or a time for Plan A either.

  • Hello there, You have done an excellent job. I will definitely digg it and individually suggest to my friends. I’m sure they will be benefited from this site.
