Has Wenger made a mockery of this man?

Arsene Wenger has been accused of making a mockery of Andrey Arshavin in his homeland by misusing his skills, according to Sergei Vedeneev.

As of late Arshavin has become a bit part player for Arsenal, usually racking up his appearance tally by coming off from the bench 15 minutes or so from time.

The Diminutive forward, who arrived from Zenit back in 2009, has clearly fallen out-of-favour with Wenger, as the Frenchman prefers to use new arrival Gervinho and Theo Walcott over the 30-year-old Russian these days.

This has lead to Vedeneev, a Russian football pundit, accusing Wenger of making Arshavin look like a joke in his homeland and also claims that the Arsenal boss has a history of playing players in the wrong positions.

Vedeneev was quoted in the Daily Mail saying:

‘He’s become a caricature of himself.’

‘Wenger has a history of positioning players wrongly. Arsenal exploit Arshavin insolently.’

Funnily enough, I agree with the Russian pundit – I too think Wenger has made Arshavin look like a laughing stock at Arsenal.

The Russian forward is a talented player. Granted, he is a little lazy, but how would you feel if you were playing out of position and was hauled off, or was coming on for the last 15 minutes of the game week in week out? Even when he outperforms Walcott he is substituted, this is probably due to his fitness more than anything, but still, it must be frustrating for Andrey. I know he is not a 90 minute man, well according to Wenger anyway, but to be taken off or coming on as a sub every week must be disheartening for Dre.

This is not a dig at Wenger whatsoever, but I too feel he has misused Arshavin’s skills in the last year or so and because of this we do not see what the little Russian can truly do.

He’s not all that bad – remember the second leg against Barcelona? When he came in he was the only one trying to build a decent attack.

He will be gone next summer anyway.

hes just lazy and careless at times. Mayb hes getting old cus he seems a bit slower. Whatever the reason I have seen him start alot of games even when he’s the worst player performing on the pitch. Wenger has tried alot with this man keeping him on even when he cannot make a pass or nothing is going right for him.

If I were Arsene, I would take a gamble and play Arshavin in the creative midfield role. He has the ability to bag a ton of assists, shoot from range, wouldnt have to run as much, and can feed the frontrunners aswell.

It’s NOT a gamble. That is where he used to be excellent (pre Wenger) and where he has been again after rehabilitation back on loan in Russia. If he returns to Arsenal … watch Wenger xxxx him up again !!

…and motherfuckers act like they forgot about Dre.

I think both you and d reporter are mistaken is it really playing out of position d problem facing arshavin? the two epl matches he did start and played below par. You guys think you must say something even if its irrelevant.

I feel playing a second striker/striker out of position is partly the problem Popsy. He doesn’t look comfortable on the left and prior to joining us, Arshavin shined in a central role for Zenit and Russia. I think the other problem with Arshavin is that he’s just lazy and looks disinterested, but this COULD do with him playing out of position. Just my thoughts of course

You say…”This is not a dig at Wenger whatsoever” Are you sure, you have just written an article doing exactly that!!

  • chris from Cambridge says:

Wenger has ruined Arshavin as he did Reyes, Wiltord, Bendtner, Vela and (soon) Walcott. None of these can play stuck out wide. They don’t know how. The difference with ‘ Harry ‘ at Spurs is he finds a way of using talented players for what they are good at. Wenger insists on his one plan only formation … and you fit in where I tell you or … tough !!

  • greenius says:

wenger played bendtner on the wings didnt he!….absurd!….arshavin is a direct dribbling offensive midfielder. he would be ideal playing behind ven persie or a quality target man (not chamakh) Many times particularly at home he was played as a winger in a keep ball possession style…..wengers tippy-tappy suited players like denilson and diaby…anyone that wants to play with urgency and attack the penalty area as quickly as possible is going to be frustrated.

I know that the squad has had alot of injuries today but, even so, what do you say about Wenger and his tactics? Spend some F***ing money the fans were chanting last week. Why haven’t we spent it and bought the players we obviously need weeks ago like Man U did? I bet theres a few less fans that still have faith in AW tonight or what the F**K Arsenal are doing at the moment.

Arshavin is a selfish lazy idle tw4t, hopefully he decides that he was too good for todays performance and leaves before wednesday along with everyone but Scezney
