Here are 10 things you should know about Arsenal target Aly Cissokho:

1. Aly Cissokho was born on the 15th of September 1987 in Blois, France, and is currently Lyon’s first choice left-back.

2. The Frenchman began his footballing career at the young age of eight playing for AMJ Blois, where he spent 4 years. He eventually made his professional debut on the 25th of May 2007 in a league match against Metz, where he played the entire 90 minutes.

3. After joining Porto In 2009, Cissokho made his Champions League debut on the 24th of February 2009 against Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid.

4. Cissokho was due to join Serie A giants AC Milan in July 2009. However, due to a dental problem (which could cause potential spinal problems in the future) Milan tried to renegotiate the deal, which caused it to collapse. Lyon jumped straight in and snapped up the full-back on the 18th of July 2009 – they matched Milan’s original offer of €15 million.

5. On the 9th of December 2009, the 23-year-old scored his first professional goal against Hungarian side Debrecen. Lyon recorded a 4-0 victory that night.

6. Laurent Blanc named Aly Cissokho in the French national side on the 5th of August 2010 and claimed his first cap against Norway six days later.

7. Arsenal are not the only team interested in his services. Cissokho has attracted interest from Liverpool, Manchester United, and until the capture of Gael Clichy from the Gunners, Manchester City were also targeting the French left-back.

8. Cissokho recently stated in an interview: ‘The Premier League is a league that suits me. It is a league where you can show power and get forward.’ This clearly indicates that the player would love to one day play in England.

9. He cost Porto just £250,000 in 2009 and was sold in the summer of the same year to Lyon for a staggering £12 million (€15 million).

10. Standing at 5’11″, if Arsenal manage to acquire him this summer, then he would be taller than their former left-back Gael Clichy, who stood at 5’9″ – in my opinion, we do need bigger defenders in our back-line.

Is this the same Aly Cissoko we wont be buying because Wenger has already said that we’re going to be playing Gibbs as left back for this season?

Your talking absolute rubbish, I wrote this article and it hasn’t even been placed on MY OWN website yet. If you think it has been copied from another website then please provide the link to the website.

I made a mistake with the date which I hold my hands up to and have had that changed over however in terms of you saying it has been copied from something someone else wrote my line to you…Put up or shut up.

Cissokho, Clichy, Abidal and Evra have all played LB for France. Cissokho only has one competitive cap for France and Clichy only 10 so they can’t really be considered as regular selections. Cissokho is behind Clichy let alone the ones that are at the required level. Sagna is an established member of the squad. To be honest i’ve not watched him play so this is all i have to go on. It’s very difficult to get established world class international players but this kid is, at best, 4th choice LB in France according to Laurent Blanc. Is that good enough ?

arsenal need to buy cissokho this season for £15 million and gary cahill or christopher samba to partner vermalen at cb because squillaci and the other center backs accept djouro are not that good.
