‘To lose both would be a disaster for Arsenal’

Former Gunner Ray Parlour believes it would be a ‘disaster’ if Arsenal were to lose both Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas this summer.

Parlour gave his verdict on the situation after both Fabregas and Nasri have been linked with moves away from the Emirates.

The Spaniard has once again been linked with a move back to boyhood club Barcelona, whilst the French midfielder, who has one year remaining on his current contract, has attracted the attention of Manchester United.

But Parlour says he would like to see both Arsenal players commit their futures to the North London club, and insists it’s crucial that Arsene Wenger doesn’t allow both of them to leave the club this summer.

The former Arsenal midfielder recently told Sky Sports News:

‘Samir Nasri was one of the best players last year at Arsenal. I think he’s really stepped up and he’s got used to the Premier League. He’s got tougher as a player and I thought he was excellent last season.’

‘To lose both, if they both go, would be a disaster for Arsenal, it really would. Then suddenly there’s big work to be done from the manager and the back-room staff.’

‘I’m hoping Samir Nasri looks at Arsene Wenger, who’s really brought his career on and says: ‘I really like working with the manager, I want to stay another year, two years or three years’.

‘It’s a special club and I’m hoping he can see that and stay for a long period of time.’

I have to say that I totally agree with Ray Parlour – To lose both Nasri and Fabregas in the same transfer window would be a complete disaster for the club. If one were to go then that’s fine, as it won’t have that much of an impact on the team, and Wenger could potentially solve the problem.

Personally, I only see Fabregas leaving the Emirates this summer, purely for the fact that I think he has done all that he can for the club in his 8 year stay.

I truly believe Nasri will stay with Arsenal for at least two more years, just so that he can develop and hone his skills under Arsene Wenger. However, I highly doubt that he will remain any further than that…then again, I could be completely wrong.

Without a doubt, no player is bigger than the club, and I am a true believer of this. However, I don’t think we cannot afford to lose two of our best players in one summer transfer window, because we don’t have suitable replacements amongst the ranks.

If both players do go, then Wenger will have to produce some magic this summer in order to rectify the problem that’s for sure.

Do you agree with Ray Parlour?

Would it be a disaster to lose both Cesc and Samir this summer?

I think that it would not be wise for both players to leave this window. I think we should cash in on Fabragas and allow Nasri to take his place. I would love us getting 54m pounds even if it is from Man City – any club that can afford that and get Hazard and Benzema in. With Nasri in Fab’s position and Hazard and Benz in the left and front along with Van Persie, our front line should be okay. We should then get a central defender and a defensive midfielder and we should be ready to go. I do not mean to despise Fabragas when I say he should go, I just think that we need a change of style. The present team is built around him and that might be why we keep passing the ball around the 18 yard box. A more direct approach might bode well for us.

To allow both players go will definately be a bad omen. Both players are some of our best players last season, inspite of their late setback. My vadict is both should not be allow to leave but if it’s imperative that one should leave Fabripass should be let go,

If they both go, Wenger would have to get off his @ss and buy quality and spend big, and we all know how difficult that’s going to be.

They both NEED to go. Nasri’s season declined because of his half-heartednes. We need real commitment now.

Let then go we need players whose heart is with the club, there`s plenty about and we are not short of money. Just take a little while to blend in and the fans will be saying “it`s the best thing that ever happened”. With all due respects I think Ray Palour believes in fairies.
