Arsenal have been linked with a shock move for Newcastle midfielder Joey Barton.
The Scouser made his thoughts clear yesterday about the exit of Newcastle captain Kevin Nolan and the former Manchester City man seemed to hint that he would be next. Barton tweeted:
‘Devastated to see him [Nolan] SOLD! #mejose[Enrique]andjonas[Gutierrez]next.’
Bookmakers SkyBet have cut Barton’s odds on joining Arsenal considerably with Arsene Wenger considering the tough-tackling midfielder to add some steel to his side.
Arsenal and Newcastle United face each other in the first game of the 2011/12 Premier League campaign in a repeat of the epic 4-4 draw from last season.

bullsh*t!
He’s talented and tough, does what it says on the tin. He would be great against the likes of Barcelona. He’s really mix up the midfield and force mistakes.
Arsenal1Again
you sir are seriously lacking in knowledge or the game if you think barton would be helpful agaisnt barcelona and if you think hes tough tackling, hes a thug and not welcome around emirates and i promise you he wont sign end of !
I agree with Arsenal1Again, just what we need in midfield, I for one would welcome him but I also agree in past has been a thug but recently think hes calmed down.
He’s the poor mans, sad mans, desperate mans Roy Keane with 1/4 the brain…if that. Barton in an Arsenal shirt will happen when Wenger spends 60m on a 35 year old player. Don’t hold your breath waiting for NEVER.
Desperate, made-up rubbish … at best.
Well this seems quite laughable.
nips comment is on the money. this is rubish
sign him and scott parker, now we make england midfield, plus lansbury, sell everybody else.
wilshere
barton lansbury
parker
Barton is not worthy of sniffing my arse let alone wear an Arsenal jersey. He should have been put back in jail for his vicious attitude on the football field.
I have no doubt that many of the FA should be in jail also – but that will come out in the wash in a few years time.
Torn to be truthful he could be a massive asset the tackle on diaby at st james’ park turned the game on it’s head which god only knows we have needed but he is a thug and the dressing room chaos he would cause would eclipse any good he did on the pitch
