Arsenal to make surprise move for ex-Gunner Larsson

|

Arsene Wenger is looking to make a surprising summer move for Sebastian Larsson – who has recently been released by Birmingham City, according to The People.

The Swedish midfielder, who quit the Gunners to join Brum in 2007, is reportedly wanted by Wenger as a squad member for next season’s campaign.

Sunderland, Newcastle and Blackburn are all thought to have made offers for the 25-year-old. However, Wenger will reportedly show his hand, and evidently, try to convince the player he sold four years ago to rejoin the Gunners this summer.

Larsson, who made 41 appearances for Birmingham City this season – bagging 5 goals and 7 assists along the way, will ultimately have to decide whether he wants to be a fringe player at the Emirates, or a regular starter at one of the clubs mentioned above this summer.

To be honest with you, I do rate Larsson, and believe he has developed into a good player since leaving us.

The Swede possesses the ability to deliver deadly balls into the opposition’s box (something we seem to struggle with at present), has a great work-rate, and is also regarded as a set-piece specialist. However, I simply can’t see him rejoining Arsenal this summer, purely for the fact that he will want first-team action week in week out at the Emirates, which, let’s face it, is not going to happen is it?

At the end of the day why would we want a player that was fine with sitting on the bench if the rumors were true. Good player but he’s not displacing anyone in the current squad.

He wasn’t good enough before, why now?

Of all the possible people we could buy from Birmingham, this isn’t the one.

A ridiculous rumour …. talk of our top players leaving, wenger says he will buy in world class players and we get linked with Larsson !

Give us a break …. we need one.

Not Arsenal standard, if he was that good then why did we get rid of him. The fact is Wenger is only interested because he is on a free. I’m fed up with is transfer policy and him (Wenger), either sort Arsenal out or get out.

I liked Seb when he played for us but there was a good reason why we let him go. A dead ball is is biggest attribute, he can cross and spot a pass too. However, if he’s sat on the bench, which he will be, we won’t get much benefit from him. Even on a free, resigning Seb would be a backward step. I’d rather have Larsson than Denilson but we need to be signing top quality players, if we are to sign any at all.
