With Arsenal expressing an interest in Mario Götze the question is – who exactly is this exciting young prospect?
Well, here are 10 things you should know about him:
1. Mario Götze is an 18-year-old (19 next month) German attacking midfielder, who currently plays for Bundersliga champions Borussia Dortmund. This season he has managed to score 8 goals and bag 15 assists in 41 appearances for the German club.
2. Götze stands at 5’9″ and is known for his speed and technical ability on and off the ball.
3. Götze has been with Dortmund since the age of 8, where he joined the Youth Development side.
4. Götze was called up for his first senior international game for Germany against Sweden in November 2010, coming on for Kevin Großkreutz in the 78th min.
5. His brother, Fabian Götze, is exactly 2 years older than him and plays for FSV Mainz 05.
6. He has been labelled as ‘one of the best talents that we’ve ever had’ by the German F.A technical director Matthias Sammer.
7. Mario Götze has been awarded 2 Fritz-Walter Medals, which are awarded to the top German Under-17, Under-18 and Under-19 players.
8. He is contracted to Borussia Dortmund until 2014, and the German outfit are highly likely to fight to keep such a talented youngster at the club, especially after recent interest.
9. This season has seen him tear sides apart, most notoriously against his brothers side Mainz, where Jurgen Klopp jokingly said he had to substitute him for being ‘too good.’
10. Mario Götze has been given the obvious Nickname of ‘Super Mario’. However the name Gotze translates to ‘Idol’, which is pretty much what he is to thousands of German youngsters and Dortmund fans.

Mario Goetze looks like a very good player to invest, he looks very talented for such a young player. He has plenty of skill, has great control and most importantly has a footballing brain. I actually can’t believe he is 18 going on 19. He is a great player and could become even greater under Arsenal. I hope Wenger does invest in him.

Hope Wenger gets him to come to Arsenal. German players are very loyal so he may struggle to get him to leave Dortmund…But fingers crossed..
his touch looks really good. he looks like a kranjcar sort of player but a bitter quicker but can’t tell much more the video. He will probably cost a bit too, but im happy for arsene to invest in young talent if he is actually good not like some of the players with us now
