Why Aaron Ramsey shouldn’t feel envious of Jack Wilshere’s rise to prominence

|

Aaron Ramsey has admitted he found it hard not to be envious of Jack Wilshere’s meteoric rise to prominence, and believes the spotlight has swiftly shifted towards the Englishman.

Unquestionably, Ramsey was labelled the ‘golden-boy’ of Arsenal football club when he made the move to the North London club in 2008. He showcased his talents to the world and was swiftly becoming a household name under Arsene Wenger’s guidance. However, after his horrific leg-break last year against Stoke City which saw him sidelined for almost 9 months, Ramsey unfortunately faded into the background, and as a result, his development came to an abrupt halt (sad but true).

Thankfully, the 20-year-old managed to make a speedy recovery. However, whilst ‘Rambo’ was on the mend, a new young starlet named Jack Wilshere was marking his territory in the Arsenal midfield.

The 19-year-old has simply risen to stardom after a successful six-month loan spell at Bolton in the latter stages of last season. Since returning to Arsenal, Wilshere has cemented a place in the Gunners first-team line-up and is now competing for a starting position in the England set-up. It’s safe to say that Wilshere is up there with the Premier League’s finest.

Although Ramsey admitted that it was great to see Wilshere shine and make a name for himself at Arsenal, the Welshman can’t help but feel envious. According to The Sun, the midfielder said:

‘I’ve been off for a year and it’s been very tough to watch the games. When watching Jack, I thought ‘That could be me.’

‘I was just starting to kick on. I started six or seven games on the bounce and felt like I was going to stake a claim for a place in Arsenal’s starting XI, like Jack has.’

‘It was frustrating, even though I had my friends and family to help me through the tough times.’

Having recovered from his long-term injury, Ramsey was rightly sent out on loan by Arsene Wenger. The Welshman desperately lacked match fitness and sharpness and certainly regained both of these whilst at Championship outfits Nottingham Forest and boyhood club Cardiff City.

Ramsey is a quality player and I’m sure he will be in the Arsenal line when he is fully back to his best. I agree with the writer when he says Wilshere and Ramsey will be the future of Arsenal.

Ramsey is just as good as Wilshere. Had he nit suffered his leg-break he would be the man in the limelight. However, Ramsey can still reach the same heights as Wilshere…he’s still only 20 years of age

Ramsey shouldn’t be envious simply because I think Aaron is better… the very fact I am saying that makes me excited that soon I honestly believe we’ll have two of the best midfielders in Europe.

I’m with you on this one mate. I truly believe that when they reach their mid 20’s they will be up their amongst be the best midfield pairings in the Premier League…maybe even in Europe
