Atletico Madrid defender Jose Gimenez’s is interesting some of Europe’s top clubs , according to Mundo Deportivo, after it emerged that negotiations over a new contract have been dragging on for a quite a while.
Gimenez’s current deal expires in 2018, and will have just one year remaining next summer. Atletico have managed to sign up a number of players to new contracts in recent months but Gimenez is still locked in talks.
Mundo Deportivo report that Arsenal, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich may look to take advantage of the situation.
The Uruguayan international has had his injury problems this season but even when fit manager Diego Simeone has opted to start Stefan Savic in his place for most of the campaign so far.
The loss of his regular first-team place has cost him a place in the national team, and his lack of game time could signal a move away from Atletico in the summer.
