Real to rival Arsenal for playmaker

|

Real Madrid are interested in signing Julian Draxler, according to Mundo Deportivo (via tuttomercatoweb.com). The Spanish newspaper say that the Champions League holders are waiting for manager Zinedine Zidane to give the go ahead to make a bid.

Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain are believed to be the other interested parties for the German international. Draxler has had a miserable season at his current side Wolfsburg. He is yet to score or provide an assist in 11 matches this season.

The midfielder was also booed after coming on as a substitute against Hertha Berlin a couple of weeks ago and failed to make the squad for the Bundesliga side’s 5-0 defeat to Bayern Munich at the weekend.

His poor form is down to the fact he asked to leave in the summer and wasn’t given permission to speak with PSG after the French side offered €70million for the player. German journalist Raphael Honigstein reports that the midfield playmaker will be allowed to leave for a fraction of that bid in January.
